What bookkeepers charge in 2026
For a sole trader, monthly prices run from roughly EUR 50 to EUR 150, depending on how much you outsource. A package with the bookkeeping, the VAT and the income tax return all included costs on average EUR 150 to EUR 250 a month.
For a simple sole trader business that is somewhere between EUR 450 and EUR 1,500 a year. If your adviser works by the hour, a bookkeeper charges EUR 35 to EUR 90 an hour and an accountant EUR 60 to EUR 150.
One-off jobs have their own price. A VAT return costs around EUR 65 on average if the bookkeeping is already done. Annual accounts for a small BV cost EUR 600 to EUR 850 on average, and a separate corporate income tax return around EUR 325.
Why prices differ so much
Two firms that both offer ‘bookkeeping’ can mean very different things. Check these points before you compare prices:
- Does the firm process your records, or do you? That is often the difference between the cheapest and the middle package.
- Is the income tax return included? And your partner's?
- Do you pay for the software yourself? An accounting package easily adds EUR 15 to EUR 41 a month.
- What does a question in between cost? At some firms you pay for every email.
- Is anything added afterwards? A fixed price followed by an extra bill is not a fixed price.
What we charge
With us it costs EUR 89 a month for a sole trader or partnership. For that we process your records and do every VAT return, the EC Sales List, the balance sheet and profit and loss account and the income tax return for you and your partner. You also get a reminder before every deadline. For EUR 135 a month you can also ask for unlimited tax advice.
For a BV it is EUR 150 a month. That also includes the corporate income tax return, the annual accounts and the Chamber of Commerce filing. With unlimited advice it is EUR 250. If you have a holding and an operating company, you pay EUR 60 a month for each extra BV.
You do not need to buy accounting software: you scan or email your receipts and invoices. That saves the EUR 15 to EUR 41 a month you often pay elsewhere.
A concrete example
Wezp (wezp.nl) is a well-known bookkeeping service for Dutch sole traders, starting at EUR 52 a month for a simple administration of up to 200 receipts and invoices a year. That is less than our EUR 89 a month.
The difference is in the structure. At Wezp the price is tied to the number of receipts and invoices: as your administration grows you move to a more expensive package, and above their largest package (up to 600) you pay EUR 10 a month extra per bundle of 200. With us, EUR 89 stays the same amount whether thirty or three hundred receipts come in per quarter, and the income tax return for you and your tax partner is included. Add the accounting software to that: elsewhere it costs EUR 15 to EUR 41 a month and with us nothing.
And Wezp focuses on the domestic sole trader; cross-border trade is nowhere in their package. If you also sell to customers in other EU countries, you need someone who knows the OSS return, customs and the EC Sales List. That is exactly what we are set up for.
Cheap can turn out expensive
With a low monthly price, check what is not included. These are most often charged separately:
- The income tax return
- The annual accounts and the Chamber of Commerce filing
- Corrections for earlier years
- Questions in between
- The software subscription
Always ask for a list of what is and is not included. If a firm does not want to put that in writing, that is a bad sign.
