The name
Where the name comes from
Ad valorem is Latin for ‘according to value’. It is the name for a tax calculated as a percentage of the value, rather than a fixed amount per item. Almost every tax you pay as a business owner works that way, from the VAT on your turnover to the corporate income tax on your profit.
Working out that value is our job: what is in the price, who supplies and in which country. We take the time for that. That is why we only take on work we are really good at.
What we do not do
We do handle income tax, corporate income tax and the annual accounts, in a monthly package or as a one-off service. We do not take on large, complex structures.
- Payroll for staff (we do file the director’s payroll return)
- Returns for private individuals without a business
- Mergers, demergers and restructurings
- Structures that only work if the tax authorities do not find out
